ZEITWOHNEN HANNOVER - Additional tenant information

If you want to be on the safe side, you should ask for permission to sublet. You should move around carefully in the rented apartment. Contracts are best in writing.

Permission to sublet

When renting shared accommodation, the agency assumes that the main tenant has obtained the consent of his landlord. Should there be any discrepancies after you move in, you may have to deal with the main tenant, because he is your contractual partner. Talk to the sublet permit if you want to rent longer. You are thus safe from unpleasant surprises.

When it comes to damage

If you cause damage to the apartment, your liability insurance will cover it. Because damage to rooms that were rented for residential purposes is regulated by it. The situation is different with borrowed items (e.g. furniture). As a rule, they are excluded from liability insurance. This means that for damage that you cause while you are there at the facility provided to you on loan, it depends on your liability policy. Is damage to rented, furnished apartments covered by your insurance, so you have to dig into your own pocket? In practice, minor damage is settled from the deposit amount that you have to leave when you move in.

Classic household damage caused by fire, storm, tap water or burglary is regulated by the main tenant's household insurance. However, since you are using the apartment as a so-called representative, you must also take precautions. This includes, for example, closing windows, apartment door and water taps tightly if you are absent for a long period of time.

Apartment - Apartment lease

A watertight contract is important for landlords and tenants. You should also record side agreements in writing. This saves you from unpleasant arguments if something doesn't go as it should.
